How
to Print Target Files
Watch the Instructional Video Below:
INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO: How to print Target Files
(Epson Driver – basic settings are comparable for other
machines) - PC
| Mac
Print the following
two Target Files onto the media that you want profiling:
Target 1
of 2
Target 2
of 2
Do not assign a profile
to the target files in Photoshop. Please refer to video.
Please don’t fold the target prints
Please leave at least 1-2cm of unprinted media around the print
Do not resize the files, please print as is. Targets of a different
size may not be read by our equipment.
Send the Target Files to Paper & Canvas Ltd (click
for address label) with the following details included:
Your Name/Company
Name
Product Name
Printer Model & Inks Used (Original/3rd Party, Photo/Matte
Black)
Email Address to send your icc profile to
The printed target
files should appear well saturated and vibrant, not at all ‘washed
out’ or weak. Ultimately they should closely resemble the
targets as they appear on screen and if they don’t it is
probable that there was something wrong in the process. Please
review the settings and retry.
We look forward
to creating your free custom profile and welcome your questions.

How
ICC Profiles Work
Profiles are simply look-up tables that describe the properties
of a colour space. The International Color Consortium (ICC) system
was devised in order to remove some of the uncertainties. A critical
part of this is to have a standard way of describing the properties
of a digital image. This is achieved by the Adobe RGB (1998) colour
space, in which a colour can be defined by its Adobe RGB (1998)
coordinates. So before you start, make sure that Adobe RGB (1998)
is your chosen option for a colour space in your image manipulation
programs.
How
to Achieve Greatness When Using ICC Profiles
To achieve the optimal set-up for using epson icc profiles, canon
icc profiles or icc profiles for other printers, the first step
is to calibrate your monitor. Many image manipulation programs
will allow you to check the monitor's set-up or alternatively,
a quick search on the web will take you to a choice of set-up
pages, but once you have done it, be careful. If you adjust the
controls, or the lighting around the monitor, or even after a
period of time, you will have to go back and set it up again -
fortunately it is a quick and painless process. The scanner profile
should be loaded with the scanner software, but will only be fully
active if the Adobe RGB (1998) option is chosen in the TWAIN interface.
Printers will normally come with a default profile that is activated
on loading the driver, but check that the profiles are activated,
by looking in the printer and scanner properties from the Start
menu. The printed image should now be reasonably close to what
you see on the screen, so you can edit your images and be confident
about the results that you will get. Of course, not all the images
will start life in your scanner, but a well-produced image from
a web page or CD should conform to the same standards and give
good results. If there are any problems, you can see them on the
screen and correct them. Digital cameras are, of course, one of
the most important sources of images and are particularly difficult
because no profile can take account of the illumination at the
time of exposure. However, with confidence that what you see on
the screen is what you will get in the print, then the final adjustment
of the image is in your hands.
Info
on Epson Paper Profiles and/or Epson Printer Profiles
It's important to understand that when someone refers to an Epson
icc profile for a specific paper and printer, it is the same thing
as an Epson paper profile and/or an Epson printer profile. All
three names are referring to the same thing - Epson icc profiles.
Epson paper profiles should be very easy to use once you take
the time to learn how to use them. Epson paper profiles are available
to download here.
